The first Iranian film festival has kicked off by screening 'Under the Smoky Roof' by Pouran Derakhshandeh in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
'Under the Smoky Roof' was the movie selected to be screened at the opening ceremony of the festival at Golden screen cinemas- Pavilion KL on Monday March 5.
During the 11 days that the festival will be running, six Iranian movies will be showcased.
The movies to go on the screen include ‘The Sweet Taste of Imagination’ by Kamal Tabrizi, ‘The Queen’ by Mohammad Ali Bashe Ahangar, ‘Crazy Castle’ by Abolhassan Davoudi, ‘Ceasefire 2’ by Tahmineh Milani, ‘Under the Smoky Roof’ by Pouran Derakhshandeh, and ‘Where Are My Shoes’ by Keyiumars Pourahmad.
The event is aimed at expanding mutual cultural ties, as well as promoting Iranian cinema industry among the Malaysian people and cineastes.
The festival will be held March 7-17, 2018.
